Hala Salon

Opened in 2024, Hala Salon is made up of a team of talented hairstylists who each bring something different to the table. From 5 different methods of extensions, to all types of colour, to hair cutting, we approach hair with care, skill and attention to detail.

We consistently work collaboratively as a team, always learning from one another and staying current in our craft. We pride ourselves in not only being some of the best in our city but also knowing that every guest that walks through our doors feels comfortable in our space.

Our goal is simple: to offer amazing hair services, as well as an exceptional guest experience in a clean, welcoming environment. Below, you’ll find a little more about each of us.

Kiaya Guthrie

Kiaya Guthrie

Junior Hairstylist

I’m Kiaya. I'm from Sherwood Park. I started doing hair in 2019 and officially started hair school in 2025. I have always been very passionate about hair, my mom really encouraged me to take my love for hair and make it my career. Prior to starting my hair school journey I cut my brothers hair for 5 years and I even had a hair account on instagram when I was 12 that I posted “content” on a mannequin I got for Christmas.

I’m passionate about being a hairstylist because it makes me feel confident to make others feel happy and confident. I love making my guests feel beautiful, valued and comfortable. Some of my favourite things to do behind the chair are blondes, lived in colour and bobs. I also really enjoy haircuts as well - tedious things like face framing and bangs. I recently completed an extension masterclass and have been loving all of the extension transformations.

Growing up I was an introvert, now I would definitely tell you I’m an extrovert. If I had to describe myself in three words they would be empathetic, easy going and kind. When I’m not in the salon, I’m usually spending time with family and friends. Something random about me is I have 5 dogs. I am a huge animal person. I have so much empathy for animals, I love them all. My go to drink is an iced chai latte.

I'm Jenna. I'm originally from Sherwood Park. I started doing hair in 2020, but I’ve been working in salons since 2018. I’ve been passionate about hair since high school, so I always knew this was the right path for me.

I love building connections with my guests and helping them leave feeling confident and looking their best. I specialize in lived in blondes and balayage - I love anything that grows out seamlessly and keeps things low maintenance for my blonde guests. After recently completing an extension masterclass, I have been loving all of the extension transformations as well.

I’m an extrovert and love being around people. If I had to describe myself in three words they would be kindhearted, easy going and funny. When I’m not at the salon, I’m usually spending time with friends and family, watching sports or out golfing. I have an orange rescue cat named Goldie who totally has my heart. Something random about me is I love hot dogs and pickles. My go to drink is an iced oat latte or a diet coke.

I'm Katie. I’m originally from Smoky Lake. I started doing hair in 2020. I started doing hair because I’ve always been interested in beauty and hair trends.

I love to make people feel beautiful and confident with themselves. I take pride in being able to make my guests feel seen, valued and empowered. It’s such a powerful thing to be part of. I specialize in custom lived in blondes and brunettes. Low maintenance looks for my guests so they can have longevity with their hair colour. I also love weft extensions.

I’m introverted. Being a hairstylist has helped me grow and come out of my comfort zone. I love the one on one connections with my guests. If I had to describe myself in three words they would be easy going, kind and patient. When I’m not at the salon I’m usually spending time with family and friends. I love shopping and I’m a big self care advocate. I also love travelling. Something random about me is that despite being very clumsy I’ve never broken any bones. My go to drink is an iced vanilla latte.

I’m Mackenzie. I’m originally from Grande Prairie. I’ve been doing hair since 2023. I've worked in the salon environment since 2019 and always knew I wanted to be a hairstylist because I take pride in helping people feel good about themselves.

My favorite thing about being a hairstylist is seeing how my services can boost a person's self esteem and mood. I love the connections I've built with my guests. I specialize in all types of haircuts and extensions.

I’m extroverted. I love connecting and chatting. If I had to describe myself in three words they would be attentative, creative and personable. When I’m not in the salon I’m usually spending time with my dog, friends and family I've made in Edmonton. Something random about me is I love trying new scents + perfumes. I find the smell of hair products so comforting. My go to drink is an iced oat latte.

Layne Danylak

Senior Hairstylist + Salon Manager

I'm Layne. I’m originally from Lac La Biche. I started doing hair in 2017. I started doing hair because I’ve always been passionate about the beauty industry and I love being able to make a positive contribution in people’s lives.

Being a hairstylist is so rewarding. I specialize in extensions and brunettes! I love being able to tailor custom dimensional colours for my brunnette guests. I’m here to prove brunnettes have more fun. I love being able to boost my guest's confidence with hair extensions.

I am extroverted. If I had to describe myself in three words they would be outgoing, thoughtful and confident. When I’m not at the salon I love spending time with family, trying new recipes or cuddling with my dog, Harley. Something random about me is I love espresso martinis. It’s my favorite cocktail and I’m more than likely going to order it if it’s on the menu. My go to drink is an iced green tea lemonade.

Layne is on maternity leave until 2027.

Aralyn Popatia

Aralyn Popatia

Senior Hairstylist + Owner

I'm Aralyn. I’m originally from Tofield. I started doing hair in 2011. I always knew I wanted to do hair, I worked in a hair salon in my hometown while I was still in high school. I always felt very passionate about hair because I never truly understood my hair growing up and I often hated the haircuts I got.

I love being a hairstylist because of the connections I've made with my guests. Most of my guest have been seeing me for 5-10 years so I have been able to see them go through life and vice versa and I feel like that is so special. I specialize in soft, effortless colours and cuts. I also love extension services.

I’m extroverted. Pouring into others fills my cup. If I had to describe myself in three words they would be outgoing, empathetic and extra. When I’m not at work I’m usually with my family. We welcomed a baby girl into our family in August of 2022. As well as I have two dogs so I'm very busy at home. I love true crime and reality tv. Something random about me is I’m a vegetarian because I have so much empathy for all animals. My go to drink changes all of the time but it would be heavily caffeinated and sweet.

This salon is amazing! Mackenzie did such an amazing job on my hair. She spent the time to make sure it was perfect and I loved it! I haven't had this good of an experience at a salon in years and I'm so happy with my results. Will definitely be coming back again! The salon was so open and bright, felt like a spa. I had my haircut done by Layne and she exceeded my expectations! She listen to what I wanted and made sure to check in with me often which I appreciated. She's a lovely person and was so easy to talk to. I absolutely loved my haircut.

Hala Salon was so bright and open. I absolutely loved how much sunlight came in. The overall atmosphere was light and modern. One thing that stood out to me compared to the other salons was how comfortable the hair wash station was. It was my first time having a comfortable experience during the hair washing without about my neck hurting from the sink. Everything about the salon was just so comforting and beautiful will definitely be making this my go-to hair salon!

Katie was amazing- friendly, great consult via text prior to and on the day of, and my colour service turned out amazing! I first booked with Katie for a haircut, she was very friendly and kept communication going throughout my haircut to make sure I was comfortable. I then booked with her again to get highlights. She responded fast, and with an immediate estimate. It was my first time getting my hair professionally done and it was an absolutely amazing experience. Katie suggested what she thought would look best, and again communicated the whole time as to what she was doing. The salon itself is very comfortable, amazing natural lighting, they offer you beverages with your service, and the other stylists are very friendly as well. They also follow up with you after to make sure you’re satisfied with your hair! I’m very happy to say I found my new salon and would definitely recommend it!!
